The Herbert Hotel

The location is perfect, but the amenities were a little old, and not perfect clean.

There's noone at the front desk. You have to check in at a different hotel. Which isn't far away. The floor could of been cleaned better. It was sticky. I don't know if people live there but we could smell food cooking. That was ok but the drunk people yelling at 3:00 was not fun and kind of scary. When getting Ubers you have to walk up the block which isn't far or down the street. Would I stay again, probably not.

When you get there you will have to go up a block to check in which I didnt know luckily there was a man that gave me a heads up and told me where to go so just be ready for that if you run into same position. Other then that the place was clean and the bed was comfortable

The room was spotless and for a SF hotel room, large. Bed and pillows were adequate and staff bent over backwards for us. Great water pressure and HOT water. There is a laundry room and microwaves you can use on the 2nd floor, which was unexpected. Check in is a half block up on the opposite side of the street at Hotel Stratford. The location is good if you want to explore various areas of SF, although Union Square isn’t really much of a tourist attraction any longer (we were there for other reasons so made no difference to us). The walls aren’t the thickest so we could occasionally hear our neighbors, but outside noise was well insulated and diffused, which is a nice touch in a city that can be extremely noisy. I have stayed at probably 50 hotels in SF and this is one of the better stays I’ve had. Is it the 4 Seasons? No. Is it an excellent value for the city, clean, quiet, and well-located? Yes. I would absolutely revisit this hotel if I was looking for something basic and affordable.

give yourself the little extra splurge and book the private bathroom. it’s nice to not have to run to the hallway toilet in the middle of the night! i promise its worth it. treat yourself, i mean you’re already visiting the best city in the united states of embarrassment!

Great location for the price. Well worth it

Close to public transport Bart,muni etc. Many shops and Restaurants in walking distance( near the Powell Street station and cable cars 30 minute walk to the SF Ferry Building easy access to Oracle Park by Muni. Not fancy but clean comfortable and safe during the day.

This a roach motel! Baits motel! Dont ever waste your life booking this type of trash! One shared bathroom for the entire floor. Bathroom reeks of sh!t It’s not one thing I liked about this hotel! For the price it was it was my worst experience in my life! I couldn’t wait to rate this horrible establishment. Tare it down and start over!

The description doesnt say no bathroom in room. Bathroom was down the hall. The floor was wet.

Good job but I have to walk to Stafford Hotel and make an payment. Then I have to walk to the Herbert Hotel to next block. It is so strange but it is interesting.

I always have a fantastic time at the HERBERT HOTEL Theres always a first for every thing. I've stayed countless times overs the years. Not one time did any room that I requested be without a mini fridge, maybe I've been lucky. I did need to have them bring one in. While the houseman was there I handed him 2 lightbulbs that needed replacing, that's is half the lighting for the room, I never did see those bulbs replaced. I found out also the blow dryer did not work, I did get another one, not only did the dryer not work , also the outlet was also not working. I also had a lot of trouble with the wifi going in and out, I had to use my hot spot from my phone it will stay for my go to hotel along with my visiting friends, I always recommend. . Ohh one more thing , I had a wrinkled shirt, and it stayed while due the brown stayed surface of the iron. Which I luckily caught the stain B4 hitting my shirt. ATTENTION TO DETAIL, IS A MUST WITH A HOTEL.

Very good hotel with a great location.

The room was admittedly larger than the photos, but it wasn’t great. The window didn’t fully close, as so it was always cold and loud. The tub didn’t drain. There were purple hand prints all over the bathroom. Almost no storage space in the bathroom. Shower head leaked. About a day into my visit, I received a message asking about my stay. I texted a brief response about the window, but it turned out to be an automated message, telling me to reach out to the front desk. I was too busy to reach out about all these details, so I can’t speak to the effectiveness of the service.
