Strange smell in the apartament

The place

Bed linnen was clean The room is a shoebox in a cave. No space for anything, window to a horrible internal area and it wasn't very clean.

The beds and location Shower was messy

Central location. K Bin men very loud at 2 40 am. Shower head dropped off the holder. A kettle provided on request but had to get 2 cups from the restaurant linked to the hostel. They charged me 4 euros for 2 tea bags and a small glass of milk Overpriced hostel.

*We were transferred to Victoria 4 Hotel (which is in same street), as there were some water problems with Hostal Matheu. Great location, around 5 minutes to Sol square Generally friendly staff Cleanliness was decent, but didn’t feel totally though Very loud party music in below bars until around 04:30 am, we couldn’t sleep until then. Unluckily also, large student groups came to stay for 3 days, they were really loud and hitting random doors between 11pm-5am on whole floor. No one warned them. If your purpose of visit is not partying, we don’t recommend.

Location! The surrounding area is full of restaurants and bars, as well as being fairly close to major attractions. I find the stay pricy, considering it's a Hostel and does not have a fridge in the room. Price, no fridge in the room. Staff knocked and insisted while I was showering, telling me they wouldn't make up the room at a later time. Only happened once in my 4 different permanences in the premises.

Location, staff, comfort, value

I had a wonderful stay at Hostal Matheu! The staff at check-in were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. The hostel itself is fantastic—comfortable and well-maintained. Its location is perfect, right in the heart of the city, with easy access to a variety of facilities and attractions. Whether you're looking for restaurants, shops, or cultural spots, everything is within walking distance. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting Madrid! I do feel the price is a bit on the higher side for what you get, especially compared to other hostels in the area. Also there is no elevator, which could be inconvenient for those with heavy luggage or mobility issues.

Staff was washing laundry all night and talking loud, and probably kept all hostel awake.

TV remote batteries were dead. No glass or plastic cups.

Good location to Sol station, staff were friendly, a kettle was provided. Room was very small. The window was facing the street so it was noisy until 5am. A thumb size dead cockroch in the breakfast floor was found for two days. The staff removed immideately.

Convenient location, friendly personal, cleaning every day. Too loud outside .and inside also?

Very good

Small rooms. Cockroaches in the bed. Toals sometimes shabby. Shower in need of repair. Paid 2 rooms for 4 people with breakfast but on arrival only 2 could have breakfast, the other two would have to pay extra!!

Exceptional

The hotel and location was great. It was close to everything and it had all facilities nearby. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very helpful!

-Perfect location. It is in the heart of the city. -Breakfast is OK. Not bad but not perfect either. -Hotel staff is helpful. -There can be noises because of bars/cafes. -Building is old.
